For anyone still checking

We are alive, well, and very happy as a family of three. Lucy is nearly 12 now and to mature for her age. She loves to cook and bake, clean and organize. She is home schooling starting this year. We are in October and she had finished the year course in health, nearly half done with math and science. She is the best kid ever, not even biased, she is the best. She loves her family and loves her friends.

Oh me, oh my... Where has the time gone

We must be having fun, cause the time has flown by. For anyone still checking this blog for updates, huge apologies.
We are all doing well. Lucy has started and enjoys first grade now. Such a big kid. She lost her third tooth just yesterday, she was pretty happy about it. I, like many a man, remain grossed out. The final uumph to get it out was a big delicious fall apple.

We have been trying to tire her out, she still has an abundance of energy. We tried t-ball over summer, too slow for her. She enjoyed hitting the ball and running the bases, but that was about it. I the outfield she would do cartwheels or build sand castles between second and third base. We signed her up for cross fit classes and she loves it. It is all constant motion and exertion, perfect.

She decided to drop her training wheels from her bike early in the summer. She thought about it, I held on to her seat for just a moment and she took right off. She is a mad woman behind the handlebars.

We got a great and funny report from school already. I guess some of her class mates have had a hard time being back in school and have cried to go home, and according to the teacher, Lucy will have her arm around them and console them, telling them that it will be alright and that they will have fun there. She is such a lover. While at home, when tonya is hurt or bothered, she is quick with a: 'well, that's life, you'll be fine soon'.  Oh, for the funny. He teacher smelled nail polish while teaching and turned around to see Lucy applying some to her nails during the lesson. She would have done all the girls if allowed, that's for sure. She plays hard, but is such a girl! I will have my work cut out for me when she gets older.

Ok, I will try to post some pics from this iPad, not sure it will work. Wasted $500.

Our Big Girl!

So it has been a while since a good post was put on here! Lucy is just so grown up. She is super tall and super funny and super beautiful! She is now 6 years old! Lost one tooth, so far. Her hair is also getting longer and she loves that, since she loves to sing and look at herself in the mirror. All the time!

She is doing good in Kindergarten. The teacher has started to send home a note of how she does each day. Her reading and writing  is top notch! It is the attenion span and not worrying about what all the other kids are doing that gets her in trouble at times! oye. Considering where she started, she is a star in my mind though.  She is completely in love with her daddy. Me, well I get seconds at times but
I will take it. She still loves me, even though dad is her 'twin' as she calls him!

We are planning some fun road trips and a trip to FL with my mom and dad in the spring. She just loves to travel, so we are excited to share the news with her when the time comes. Not a minute sooner!

Lucy loves stickers, Taylor Swift,  her family, playing school and doctor of course! The medical curiosity never ends with her.

Hoping to plan some more play dates with some friends and maybe even plan a get together at the house in the next month or two. She would really have a blast and it is long overdue.

Love our Lucy Blue! Wishing i could post a picture..not sure why this wont work.

Our Olympic Swimmer

This little kid is amazing. Her lack of fear plays out well for her I the pool. So, a bit ago she decided to go without floaties, so she is real good at treading water and swimming from side to side. But now she has decide to swim underwater now, like actually swim under water. She has me counting to see how long she can hold her breath underwater. She has these little sinking jellyfish to practice going swimming to the bottom. We drop them in, they sink, and she dives under and grabs them and our toes. She learns everything we teach her in there. I will be teaching her how to properly dive next. We have pics and videos of the big kid.. But again, iPad blows and we can't upload to anything from here.

Lucy is such abig girl, it is crazy!

Well, she just graduated from preschool and we are so proud of her. She has been with the same teachers and therapists for 2 years and many of the same kids. It was hard, for me, to say goodbye. They have helped us so much and loved her just as much. Her experience was in an integrated classroom and it was so touching to see the love between the kids. Lucy got her progress report and she achieved many if not All of her social goals, tries her best with her speech and is smart as a whip. :) she also ended her last day with her part time day care. She has been with them for 3 years! Lots of changes for the little miss. She also continues to get longer legs. Every month she grows and grows and we are amazed as we watch the door jam get new tick marks to measure her height. Now for the summer. She loves the pool and can swim two lengths with no floats, she just swims it. She likes to go under water and dive for her jellyfish. Much better swimmer than most adults, including me. I am still home dealing with the effects from my concussion in march. I am completely done not feeling all better. I have days of optimism and then when I push it on the computer, read or get under lights the headaches come roaring back. I am so ready to go back to work and function normally but I have no control over when it will heal. So today is day three of my migraine and I am pushing it by typing on here. Oh well. It is what it is, right?! I will try to upload a newer pic of the big girl. It is true, they grow so fast. Someone really needs to invent time travel.

My Lucy. Now that I have some time to reflect, a lot, I have been thinking about just how much I love my little girl. Since my brain will explode in about 2minutes and counting, I need to be quick. She is just the sweetest kid in the universe. I have complete strangers telling me they know her and how much she means to them. When I was praying for mommy hood, I prayed that my girl, whoever she was, would have a good heart. A heart full of love and goodness. My prayers have been answered. She is my caretaker. If I have tears, which I don't usually want her to see, she dries them. She will tell me I will feel better soon, it just takes time. She will cover me up in my blankets, bring me drinks and sing to me. I love my Lucy soooo much. Fearing that I would not be here for her through all the years, has been freaking me out a lot lately. I know that nobody else in the world loves her as much as me and would protect her from the meanies out there in the world. Nobody else would know how to talk to her when things arent going right. Read to her the way I do and dance with her in our spot in the living room. She writes I love you and draws the cutest pics of people. I have scraps of them everywhere because I just don't want to throw any of them away. I have loved her will all my heart since I first laid eyes on her. I will always be honest with her and know we will be an amazing mommy daughter team foreva! Ok , the concussion is kicking in and I have to get off this contraption. I Wish i Could post some pics of our beautiful wonderful baby girl. Yes i know she is 5! Until then!

Still kicking...somewhat

Been a while, we are all still alive. My turn for illness is over, tonya is next. Concussion and tomorrow an MRI for any other item to explain her pain. A pain in the head. Big pain in the head.

We would upload a picture of us, but this dumb iPad does not let us do anything fun but watch overpriced movies. Our laptop is dead, so no pix for a while. So imagine Lucy bigger and cuter.

Finally, some snow!

Well, it had to happen at some time. We don't mind it really, just the bitter cold that accompanies it is a bit disturbing. Otherwise... Let it Snow!

After some coercing, we got the goose outside alone. She is not real big on doing things alone, but I can't go outside yet (pneumonia) and Tonya was having no part of it on a Sunday morning. She has a good time out there. Enjoy.

Video for Derren

Derren is my sister Maria's beau. He gave her a gift the day before, and it inspired a song.
